Innovating Clay Technology

The provisional programme and registration form for the 'Innovating Clay Technology' conference has now been made available by joint coordinators, the Institute of Clay Technology (ICT) and the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IoM3).

In their introduction, they state that the clay building products industry continues to face considerable challenges to its future existence and prosperity. The theme, 'Technology Makes It Possible - People Make It Happen', aims to develop a thought provoking environment in which managers and members can learn more about themselves, the clay industry and the wider building market.

Topics for discussion will include:

People: maximising the productivity of the workforce; education and training issues; health and safety; and insurance and legal requirements.

Environment and Legislation: the implications of increasingly stringent environmental legislation and ways in which the industry can optimise performance to meet the targets.

Technology Providers: opportunity for a wide range of technology providers to present how they are providing innovative solutions to the heavy clay industry.

Competitive and Complementary Materials: innovative building schemes and solutions using other materials in competition and in conjunction with heavy clay building products.

Following on from the success of last year's event, there will be a much larger exhibition, giving the opportunity for the whole of the supply chain for the heavy clay industry to promote their products and services.

The event takes place from 18-19 November 2003 at the Bretby Conference Centre, Burton-on-Trent, Staffs, England. Further details can be obtained by visiting the ICT website: www.claytechnology.com

There will be a comprehensive range of sponsorship packages for this event. E-mail sponsor@claytechnology.com for details.

The exhibition, covering over 800 square metres, is being organised by Jackie Butterfield of IoM3. The cost of a 2m x 2m space is 250 and includes one delegate registration to the conference. For full details, e-mail Jackie at: jackie.butterfield@iom3.org
