Caroma Looks to Future With Sacmi Technology

Australia’s first sanitaryware manufacturer, founded in 1941 by Charles Rothauser, Caroma can, today, boast one of the most modern, futuristic sanitaryware production plants in the world - according to Sacmi (Imola, MO, Italy) which provided the automatic machinery that handles, glazes and casts the pieces.

All production at Caroma, in fact, now involves the use of pressure casting systems and Sacmi-designed resin moulds. Sacmi has also provided Caroma with the robots that carry out the glazing. Finally, even the product handling is described as highly innovative, being carried out by laser-guided vehicles (also Sacmi-made), as are the piece sorting systems which use robots and gantry loaders.

Caroma has its roots firmly established in Australian business tradition, yet, says its Italian supplier, thanks to Sacmi’s indispensable contribution its outlook is decidedly future-oriented. Three key factors have ensured Caroma’s success. First and foremost is its concern for the environment: Caroma was the first sanitaryware company to make WC tanks with a 'double flush' button, which gives water savings of up to 67% every time it is used while ensuring the WC remains perfectly clean.
