Bell Ceramics to Increase Capacity

Indian ceramic tile producer Bell Ceramics is set to expand capacity at its two factories in Bangalore and Vadodara, with an investment of some Rs (rupees) 430 million. The company's overall production capacity is expected to increase from 600,000 sq.m. per month to more than 1.1 million sq.m. per month.

In an interview with Indian Times, A N Rangaswamy, the Senior Vice President Sales & Marketing, said: "The expansion of the Bangalore facility is nearing completion which will enable us to produce more value-added and value-for-money products. On the other hand, the enhanced capacity at the Vadodara plant will be used to produce new product variations in terms of sizes and textures".

The company is also reported to have drafted a business programme, 'Vision 2008', to reach a turnover of Rs 4 billion by 2008. "Our strategy is to introduce new products and increase market penetration, especially in the semi-urban and rural markets. We may also go in for another round of capacity expansion in '06," added Mr Rangaswamy.
