USA Company Launches Material for Burner Nozzles

Aremco Products Inc (Valley Cottage, NY, USA) has launched AremcoloxTM 502-1100, a new, low-cost, machinable alumino-silicate ceramic, now used to produce high temperature burner nozzles for applications up to 2100°F. The product is described as an advanced, alumino-silicate ceramic for producing reliable, low cost combustion nozzles along with a wide variety of industrial parts such as electrical and thermal insulators, brazing and soldering fixtures and welding shields.

It is said to demonstrate exceptional mechanical, electrical and thermal properties, including a compressive strength of 25kpsi; dielectric strength of 100V per mil; and thermal conductivity of 9BTU-in/h-ft2-°F. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is 2.5in/in/°F x 10-6, making it ideal for thermal shock applications.

It can be used in oxidising, reducing or vacuum atmospheres. It will not outgas in ultra-high vacuum and it does not react with most molten metals, salts and acids, says Aremco.

It is machined easily using conventional tooling and, after a simple firing procedure, it is fully dense and resistant to 2100°F. Stock sizes include plates ranging from 0.25 in to 1.0 in thick; rods from 0.25 in to 7.0 in diameter; and bars from 1.0 in x 1.0 in to 4.0 in x 4.0 in. Aremco also fabricates to customer prints.
