Arburg Grows Right Down the Line
Injection moulding machinery specialist ARBURG (Lossburg, Germany) has recently launched its brand new site, ARBURG II, and announced encouraging results. The company invested a total of DM 130 million in the new building project. Of this, DM 30 million alone went into new production plant. At the same time, ARBURG II led to the creation of 150 new jobs, underlining the company's commitment to the site in Germany and, more precisely, Lossburg itself. This is the company's sole production site, although it has representatives in 72 countries world-wide.
ARBURG's current business figures were presented by sales and control director, Michael Grandt. After a slight fall in the Hehl's group's consolidated turnover to DM 566.3 million in 1999 (-2.4%), significant growth is expected in 2000. During the period from January to August 2000, the company was able to register significant growth compared with the previous year. The number of orders rose by 58% to a value of DM 372.5 million. The consolidated turnover forecast for the Hehl group during the whole of 2000 was put at DM 680 million, representing a growth rate of 20% over the previous year. The share accounted for by domestic sales by ARBURG GmbH & Co currently stands at 43.5%.
This was accompanied by a rise in the number of staff. At the end of August 2000, ARBURG was employing over 1800 staff world-wide, over 1500 of them based at the parent plant in Lossburg.
The ultra-modern production facility provided by ARBURG II has created the necessary scope for expanding production and assembling capacity. The complete success of the site, with its 'glass workshop', has already been confirmed several times with, for instance, recent photo requests from majors such as Daimler Chrysler and Siemens. ARBURG II's assembly hall is flooded with light shining through its 3,000 square metre glass faade.
