IOM3 to Manage New Virtual Network for Materials Community

The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining (IOM3) has announced an agreement with the British Government's Department of Trade & Industry (DTI) to develop and manage a new virtual network to support the materials community. The Advanced Materials Forum (AMF), effectively a network of networks, has been established to bring together the considered views of industry and academia and to both debate the future priorities for materials application and development and fully access up-to-date news, information and reports on material changes from around the world.

DTI Minister Lord Sainsbury welcomed the move: "Materials underpin everyday life. It is important that we reap the benefits and opportunities that developments in materials continue to offer. This network will play a major role in this by facilitating technology transfer using state of the art technology.

"It's fitting that the UK's premier materials organisation has won the competition to deliver this particular network. I congratulate the Institute and look forward to seeing the Network flourish under their stewardship."

The network can be accessed at: www.amf.uk.com
