Tosoh Restructures at Toyama

Effective now, Tosoh Corporation - headquartered in Tokyo, Japan - has announced that the combined Zeolite (Zeolum) and AIA manufacturing operations at the Toyama Plant are to be taken over by two new companies. The newly established wholly owned subsidiaries - TOSOH Zeolum Co Ltd and TOSOH AIA Co Ltd - have assumed all operations from this plant.

The company has decided to phase out production of organic intermediates and metallic soda (and related semiconductor products) at the Toyama Plant. Production of organic intermediates will be intensified at TOSOH Organic Chemical Co Ltd, located at the Nanyo Complex.

The present actions are said to represent an integral link in moving to a stronger business structure for all divisions of Tosoh Corporation.

Tosoh employs over 8,000 people world-wide and generates sales of approximately $3.5 billion annually.
