Tiling to Timber Floors

The Tile Association has published a document outlining the various ways of fixing ceramic, stone or slate tiles to all known forms of timber substrates, including suspended wooden floors. The document was written by a Technical Working Group consisting of members of The Tile Association in conjunction with the Wood Panel Industries Federation.

The solution to tiling to wood is, as with all other surfaces, in the preparation of substrate or surface and the choice of an appropriate adhesive. In 90% of cases, says the association, one can tile to timber floors.

The publication is entitled 'Tiling to Timber Sheets and Board, Timber Substrates and Alternative Products' and is available from the association at a cost of 30 per hard copy or 60 for a PDF via e-mail. There is a discount for association members.
