New Tool Seeks to Reduce Risk of RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury) in the Potteries

Sydney Heath & Son, Stoke-on-Trent, UK, in conjunction with the British Ceramic Confederation (BCC) and a major UK based ceramic manufacturer, has developed a new fettling knife which is said to help reduce the risk of hand/wrist problems or RSI (repetitive strain injury).

The new contoured handle provides a better shape for applying torque and reduces discomfort or injury that can be caused by pressure exerted on the hand. The flexible grip aids comfort and is said to help reduce the risk of injury caused by repeated localised pressure on the nerves and blood vessels.

The newly developed handles can be fitted to a variety of fettling blades to suit all types of fettling applications.
