Morgan Advanced Ceramics to Show Supertough Coatings at Performance Racing Event

Morgan Advanced Ceramics (MAC) and its Diamonex Products Division will showcase Diamonex(r) Diamond-like Coatings (DLC) at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show which takes place in Orlando, FL, USA from 1-3 December 2005. These are high performance, thin surface coatings which provide high hardness, excellent chemical resistance and low friction.

Said to be ideal for applications in the automotive and high performance racing industries, the DLCs increase wear life and reduce surface friction of metal components. Using patented plasma chemical vapour deposition (CVD) technologies, MAC creates a coating with chemical and physical properties comparable to diamond, but without long-range crystalline order.

Similar to diamond, the Diamonex DLCs exhibit high hardness, a low coefficient of friction and chemical resistance. Diamonex DLCs are applied to the product at near ambient temperature, thereby maintaining tight dimensional tolerances.

The high degree of vapour ionisation used in MAC's processes for DLC produces smooth, highly dense, conformal coatings with excellent adhesion, added the company. The coatings can be specifically engineered to meet the performance requirements of each unique application.
