New Ideas on Tile Storage and Movement

CMF SpA (Pavullo, Modena, Italy) has come up with new patented systems for the ceramic industry. The first, 'Robox', is described as a new concept applied to storage systems for the ceramic industry, founded on a company strategy and logic based on Total Quality. With Robox, the car rollers are made with a simple expansion pin and can be assembled with a light pressure; they do not include other mechanical components such as lock rings and bushes. They rotate on the car hole, made so as not to cause mechanical wear.

This loading/unloading box system is said to be extremely simple and fast to assemble, with significant saving on labour cost. Advantages are also gained from the removal of mechanical parts and the reduced need for spare parts subject to wear.

CMF has, secondly, introduced a new and patented roller driving system which it says features very innovative solutions. The roller motor drive for tile loading/unloading is realised by a series of tapered spindles fitting into the rollers; lifting and locking them by ball expansion, before starting the drive. The ball expansion is effected by a pin applied on the spindle, whose axial movement is managed by a magnetic system. Advantages are said to include good time duration and reliability as there is no complicated mechanism that would lead to maintenance costs due to wear.

For this system, a roller driving robot - after having finished the box loading or unloading - rotates by 180o and starts working on the next car, which is already in the correct position. The company claims a remarkable increase in the operating speed of the loading and unloading steps in addition to which the reduction of the box drives results in higher level of safety of the transported materials and, above all, of raw tiles.
