SCCI On the Up

Superconductive Components Inc (Columbus, OH, USA), the manufacturer of advanced ceramics, optical materials and high temperature products, reported income applicable to common shares of US$22,407 for the three months ended 30 September 2001, versus a net loss of US$54,522 for the same period last year.

Net income per diluted common share was US$0.01 for Q3 2001 versus a net loss of US$0.04 a year ago. Weighted average shares outstanding were 33.7% higher for the quarter compared to the prior year due to the sale of common equity and conversion of debt to equity during the second half of 2000.

Revenues rose 12.2% to US$891,813 for Q3 2001. A 20.7% increase in product sales was partially offset by lower contract research revenue for the quarter. Revenues for the 2001 year-to-date period improved 24.5% to US$2.857 million.

SCCI manufactures advanced ceramics such as superconductors, ferroelectrics and optical materials for use in wire, cable, sensors, batteries, wireless and fibre optics systems. The Target Materials Inc Division of the company manufactured thin film materials for photovoltaics, flat panel displays, electronic switches, hardness and decorative coatings. The company now boasts customers in more than 40 countries.
