RAK Moves into Iran

AUCBM reports in its latest review that RAK Ceramics (Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates) has begun the construction of a new US$15 million plant in Iran. The new plant is expected to begin production in the first half of 2004 with a capacity of 10,000 square metres per day of different kinds and dimensions of ceramic tiles.

The company has also already announced that it will add a new production line at its plant in Bangladesh. This US$2 million expansion will increase the plant capacity to 20,000 square metres per day of tiles, in addition to 1,000 pieces per day of sanitaryware.

With these expansions, says AUCBM, RAK Ceramics' capacity will increase to more than 150,000 square metres per day of ceramic tiles, from its main plant in Ras Al Khaimah and its external production arms.
