Porsalina Keeps On Growing With Sacmi

Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy) continues to contribute more and more to the expansion of Porsalina (aka Arabian Company for Ceramics), Saudi Arabia’s second largest ceramic sanitaryware producer.

A mechanised BCO066 casting bench for one-piece WC bowls was recently started up successfully at a production plant some 70km from the centre of Riyadh. The one-piece is a WC with tank, cast together as a single ceramic piece. It is described as undoubtedly the heaviest (over 35kg) and most complex kind of sanitaryware to produce.

Featuring a dryer that can dry 66 plaster moulds, the BCO066 bench allows two castings per day and is claimed to provide performance of outstanding quality.

Two RWD407 ceramic piece chamber dryers have also been operative for several months now. Each can handle a total of about 400 pieces loaded on 28 cars – that’s a staggering eight tons of ceramic mass!

Fuelled by LPG, these dryers offer excellent uniformity of hot air distribution thanks to rotary cones distributed along the machine in intra-car positions. Temperature and moisture are adjusted constantly by a latest-generation PLC. In a 12-hour cycle with a working temperature of  80°C, an outgoing moisture content of just 0.2% was achieved.

These clear-cut choices show that Porsalina is determined to increase both productivity and quality by making the most of Sacmi’s outstanding ceramic technology.
