Night-Glowing Ceramic Tiles

Sun Brilliance International Co Ltd (Chung Ho City, Taipei, Taiwan) has launched a range of glow-in-the-dark ceramic tiles. The products have EN-71 and ASTM-F963-96a certifications and use a GID material which is based on a strontium aluminate compound said to be 10 times more effective than the old zinc sulphur traditionally used in luminous items.

The material is apparently baked at high temperature and its properties enable it to absorb light in daytime and emit light in the dark.
