New Multi-Function Rotators

The newly introduced PTR multi-function rotators from Grant Instruments (Shepreth, Cambs, England) are available for applications requiring thorough mixing of capped tube contents. Using microprocessor control, the mixing platform can be spun, vibrated and rocked.

The easy to use rotators not only provide vertical spinning (turning the tube end over end), but they also emulate other manual actions used for mixing in small tubes: rocking motion has the effect of backward and forward shaking; the vibration action imitates a light tap with a finger. Rocking angle and speed are adjustable to facilitate optimum mixing, especially useful with small sample sizes.

Two models are available, each complete with a standard platform. The PTR-30 compact rotator holds up to 22 microtubes, with speed control over a range from 5rpm to 30rpm. The high performance, large capacity PTR-60 model accommodates up to 48 microtubes, with a variable speed from 5rpm to 60rpm.
