New JV Ownership for Ceramic and Building Exhibitions in China

BolognaFiere and CMP Sinoexpo have announced that they are establishing a new joint venture company in China to organiser two major trade fairs. Expo Build China and Ceramics, Tile & Sanitary Ware China are both held annually in April. Subject to final approval by the relevant Chinese authorities, the new ownership will be in effect for the 2004 fairs.

Expo Build China will be staged for the 12th time from 6-9 April 2004 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. Previously operated by CMP Sinoexpo under a different brand name, the fair is claimed to be the foremost showcase and trade platform for medium and high-end construction materials for China.

Running at the same time and place will be Ceramic, Tile & Sanitary Ware China, claimed to be the largest fair for these products in China. It is co-organised by the China Building Ceramics & Sanitaryware Association and this is the only trade fair in East China that it supports.

Together, the two fairs are expected to take up over 35,000 square metres of exhibition space and attract more than 500 exhibiting companies and 40,000 visitors. Wang Ming Liang, the Managing Director of CMP Sinoexpo, said: "China's construction and decoration industry has made huge progress in recent years with an annual growth rate of over 20%. It is estimated that in the next 10 years, at least 200 million square metres of floor space will be completed yearly. The partnership with BolognaFiere will ensure further growth of our construction fairs in China's vast and rapidly developing market".
