Morgan Advanced Ceramics Introduces PSPTM for Aircraft Engine Repair

WESGO Metals, a division of Morgan Advanced Ceramics (MAC) and a pioneer of brazing techniques for aero-engine repairs, offers its PreSintered Preform (PSPTM). PSP is an aircraft engine repair solution that combines super alloy and braze powders. MAC is a world-leading supplier of innovative ceramic and ceramic to metal solutions for the medical, telecommunications and semiconductor markets.

The intense conditions that modern high-performance aircraft engines must endure require specialized repairs. WESGO Metals' PSP is a product that is specifically designed to refurbish the cold section compressors and super alloy hot section components of aircraft engines. PSP brings distorted and worn airfoil contours back to their original shape. Such repairs restore efficiency and extend the life of components to safe operating levels, at a fraction of the cost of a new part.

PSP is a superior choice for the repair of airfoil throat reduction and dimensional restoration of high-pressure turbine nozzle guide vanes. It does not distort components (as in welding), eliminates shrink depressions, minimizes post-braze grinding and removes the need for rebraze cycles.

For difficult to reach areas, PSP pastes and paints are used. Paste provides excellent coverage and is used for filling oxidation corrosion fatigue cracks on the airfoil. Paints are best suited for deep, narrow micro-cracks.
