Kron to Leave IMERYS
At the recent meeting of the IMERYS Supervisory Board, Patrick Kron asked to be relieved of his duties as Chairman of the Managing Board and CEO, effective 1 January 2003. On this date he will become CEO of Alstom.The Supervisory Board acknowledged this request and decided to elect Gérard Buffière Chairman of the Managing Board and CEO of IMERYS effective the same date. Gérard Buffière is currently a member of the Managing Board and head of the Pigments & Additives Group. It was also decided to propose to the next General Shareholders' meeting to appoint Patrick Kron as a member of the Supervisory Board.
Chairman of that Board, Aimery Langlois-Meurinne, said: "Patrick Kron has been managing Imerys for nearly five years. During this period, he has greatly developed the Group and strengthened its range of activities. Under his aegis, profitability has increased substantially. He has built an impressive management team and everyone within Imerys has appreciated his leadership and his personal qualities. The Supervisory Board warmly thanks him for his contribution and wishes him every success in his new responsibilities within Alstom".
Gérard Buffière initially managed the Building Materials and Ceramics & Specialities business groups: since March 2002 he has been in charge of the reorganisation and the development of the Pigments & Additives group.
