KEMET Names Sierra-KD Product Line

KEMET Corporation (Greenville, SC, USA) announced on 14 November 2003 the launch of the Sierra-KD product line, which includes high voltage leaded ceramic capacitors, high voltage ceramic chip capacitors, high temperature leaded ceramic capacitors and EMI/RFI feed-thru filter stacked MLC chips.

On 1 July 2003, KEMET had announced the acquisition of Greatbatch-Sierra (Sierra-KD) non-medical high voltage and high temperature ceramic capacitor and EMI (electro-magnetic interference) filter production lines from Wilson Greatbatch Technologies Inc.

The manufacturing lines have now been moved into KEMET facilities located in Fountain Inn, South Carolina, USA and Monterrey, NL, Mexico. Since the acquisition, KEMET has been working to reduce manufacturing lead times for these products in order to provide the customers with additional flexibility. Military certification of the lines will be completed during 2004.

"The addition of these offerings is an important step in KEMET's accomplishment of the strategic objective to broaden its high-performance solutions to support customers' ever-increasing technical requirements," said CEO Jeffrey Graves. "KEMET's demonstrated history of quality, reliability, and on-time delivery will enhance the value delivered to customers through these acquired products."
