Raw Materials for Italian Tile Industry to be Transported from Turkey

Assopiastrelle, the Association of Italian Ceramic Tile & Refractory Material Manufacturers, reports that Cargo Clay, a company linked to Assopiastrelle, has just inaugurated a transport service of feldspar from Turkey to the Sassuolo district via Livorno.

This is the first time that ships coming from Turkey are docking in Livorno at the terminal of Calata Orlando (TCO). This terminal boasts a long experience in the sector of raw materials for the ceramics district since it has always handled sand shipped from Sardinia destined for the area.

The aim of this service is that of increasing the balance in the flows of raw material and the finished product to and from the ceramics district; Tyrrhenian docks are perfect for this type of service thanks to the extremely favourable geographic position. Trenitalia, a leading company in dock-railway terminal services, will handle the railroad part from Livorno port to Modena station with a daily service, picking up finished products that on the way back are to cross the ocean.

Cargo Clay has recently inaugurated a new door-to-door service for the distribution of tiles in America. The company from Sassuolo has signed an important joint venture agreement with an American logistics company with branches in Miami, Los Angeles, Charleston and Dayton (New Jersey) that is able to provide all the services on-site (tracking&tracing, customs, reception and storage of the goods, cross docking, etc.); it is also capable of meeting the needs of the American customers at any stage of the shipment, including typical problems that often arise in American ports.

Thanks to these two new services and to the consequent optimisation of the flow of goods, ceramics manufacturers will benefit from a high degree of competitiveness in the management of incoming and outgoing materials, says Assopiastrelle.
