Focus on Fellowship – IOM3 Recognises Senior Materials Professionals Worldwide

Senior materials professionals globally are being invited to gain high-status professional recognition from the Institute of Materials, Minerals & Mining (IOM3). Experienced and qualified people can join the Institute directly at Fellowship level, becoming an important part of a community of almost 20,000 scientists, engineers and senior managers from a huge range of industries.

IOM3 (London, England) includes materials disciplines from clay and ceramics to metals to nanotechnologies, plastics, rubber and wood, plus functional specialities such as automotive, packaging, biomedical applications and electronics. Members range from students just starting out in their careers through to CEOs of major international companies and senior academics. Membership of the Institute provides all the usual networking and information benefits of becoming part of a large technical organisation and can lead to Chartered status as either Chartered Engineer, Chartered Scientist or Chartered Environmentalist.

Fellowship of the Institute is recognition of an individual’s contribution to their industry or discipline and brings with it the respected postnominals FIMMM. To get the ball rolling, all that is required is to send a CV or a one-page summary of experience.

Although the process of application for Fellowship has been made easier, it would only be available to people who have worked within one of the relevant industries for a number of years and made a contribution to growth or technical development. Those interested in becoming a Fellow of IOM3 should contact David Arthur, Head of Member Services, at IOM3's Stoke-on-Trent office (david.arthur@iom3.org).
