International Ceramics Festival 2007

The International Ceramics Festival will be held from 29 June to 1 July 2007. Tickets will be on sale from November 2006 and will be available via the internet.

Since it began in 1987, the International Ceramics Festival has grown to become the UK's leading studio ceramics event. It offers teachers, students, ceramic artists, collectors, working potters and amateurs alike the chance to meet and study the work of distinguished, internationally known crafters from both the UK and many countries world-wide.

The festival attracts about 800 participants to a series of lectures, practical demonstrations and exhibitions over three days. The focus is both practical and inspirational - kilns are built and fired, pots made and demonstrations given. Guest artists also have their own workspace enabling more in-depth discussions and exchange of ideas. Over the years the festival has built up a reputation for featuring some of the world's best known ceramic artists and potters, many new to this country and 2007 will be no exception.

During the festival there are also selling exhibitions, bookstands and a comprehensive display of products from leading pottery manufacturers and suppliers. The aim is to make the weekend as relaxed and accessible as possible.

The festival is held at Aberystwyth Arts Centre (Aberystwyth, Ceredigion, Wales) on the campus of the University of Wales on the beautiful Mid Wales coast.

The festival is organised jointly by North Wales Potters, South Wales Potters and Aberystwyth Arts Centre. The programme starts on the Friday evening with slide show introductions by all the invited guest demonstrators. Saturday and Sunday is filled with demonstrations, lectures, seminars, slideshows and films. Concurrently, a programme of kiln building and firings, demonstrations and events will take place in the adjacent outside areas.

Additionally, trade stands have become an increasingly valuable part of this event. They offer the festival's visitors a unique opportunity to see and compare what is new in the way of equipment, tools materials and books as well as being able to purchase tried and tested materials directly from the suppliers, many of whom have special offers for festival goers. Enquiries for trade space are being invited.

The International Ceramics Festival gratefully acknowledges the financial support of the Arts Council of Wales and the generous support and sponsorship of all the trading companies who donate materials and equipment.
