Eczacibasi Ceramic Tiles Inaugurates New Plant

Eczacibasi Ceramic Tiles has inaugurated an 850,000 square metre plant at its complex in Bozuyuk (Bilecik, Turkey) to produce special-effect porcelain tiles. The company said that 70% of the tiles produced at the plant are to be exported to major international markets.

The new plant's 4,600-ton press enables it to produce large-size porcelain tiles, mainly used for the exterior walls and floors of commercial buildings due to their durability, style and long life.

The company said that with this US$4 million investment, it has risen to now rank as one of the top three tile producers in Europe and has strengthened its portfolio of tile products for architects and other professionals.

Eczacibasi Ceramic Tiles has a total production capacity of 16.5 million square metres at its two production complexes in Turkey and its plant in Ireland. The company expects to export over 70% of its output and earn export revenues of US$50 million in 2003. Its main markets include Germany, the UK, Ireland, the USA, Canada, Benelux and Australia. One of the largest projects in 2002 involved 18,000 square metres of tile flooring for the new terminal at Munich Airport.
