Drayton Kilns Completes Major Contract

Drayton Kilns Ltd (Trentham, Stoke-on-Trent, England) has just completed one of the most prestigious UK kiln contracts with the successful commissioning of a 51 metre-long, state-of-the-art tunnel kiln system for the successful Derbyshire based stoneware producer Denby Pottery.

Drayton, which has operated at its HQ in Trentham for more than 30 years now, has a long-standing relationship with Denby and this latest kiln is part of a £2 million investment programme by Denby designed to create a new, dedicated flatware manufacturing cell.

The new Drayton kiln is equipped with sophisticated combustion and computerised control systems for optimum fuel economy and temperature distribution, and with fully automated kiln car movement - including Drayton's trade-marked RotaKar system to facilitate ware setting and unloading.

Other features include an automatic kiln car weigh station and computerised pusher speed control. Drayton claims that this new installation further strengthens its position at the forefront of European whiteware firing technology.
