Deal Completed on Carbon Graphite Mechanical Seals

The Arkansas Operation of CoorsTek Inc (Benton, AR, USA), a leading designer and manufacturer of critical components and integrated assemblies for high technology markets, announced on 30 October that it had expanded its range of materials for mechanical seals to include carbon graphite through a distribution agreement struck with St Marys Carbon Company (St Marys, PA, USA).

CoorsTek said it had selected St Marys Carbon because of its substantial reputation for quality and over 60 years of manufacturing experience. Both companies stand to benefit from the relationship as CoorsTek is well established in severe-service mechanical seal markets and the St Marys Carbon range of advanced carbon materials is said to be ideally suited to use in mechanical seals.

The addition of carbon graphite completes the CoorsTek range of advanced materials for mechanical seals, including alumina ceramic, silicon carbide and tungsten carbide. The new carbon graphite material is made in St Marys' 190,000 square foot facility with full production capabilities - from powder production to completely finished components ready for shipment. The facility operates around the clock and has room for expansion.
