More Records Set by World's Most Important Fair for Ceramic Supply Sector

Ceramitec 2000 set a new record in both visitor and exhibitor statistics, once again says organiser Messe Mnchen impressively demonstrating its role as the leading equipment fair for the entire ceramics and powder metallurgy sector. Around 29,000 visitors - 5% more than in 1997 - from over 90 countries came to find out about the products and services of 828 exhibitors from 40 countries.

The already high proportion of visitors from outside Germany rose once again (by more than a fifth) from 43% of the total in 1997 to 52% this October. This is the highest proportion of international visitors for any exhibition held at the New Munich Trade Fair Centre.

According to Messe Mnchen, exhibitors and visitors alike confirmed the leading position of Ceramitec by giving the event top marks in almost all categories. The majority view after five successful days (17-21 October) at the fair was "Ceramitec is the number one world fair for the ceramics industry". The exhibition takes place on a three-year cycle and this will continue: the next staging of Ceramitec will be from 16-20 September 2003.

Record participation figures and praise from all sides also gave the trade fair management good cause to be satisfied: "We were hoping for a big success, not least because of the positive business climate in the sector at the present time. But, as it turned out, the fair was even better than we had hoped," said President and CEO of Messe Mnchen, Manfred Wutzlhofer. "Once again, we have seen how the new exhibition centre can give an added boost to an event which was already very successful."

The visitor and exhibitor survey, conducted as always by an independent market research company, showed that Ceramitec 2000 achieved ratings as high or even higher than in 1997. Over 90% of exhibitors and the same proportion of visitors rated the event as 'excellent to good'. 91% of exhibitors and 89% of visitors said they regarded Ceramitec as the world's number one fair for the sector. 99% of exhibitors had had visitors from abroad at their stands - the majority coming from Italy, Spain, France, Turkey, Great Britain, the Czech Republic, the USA, Holland, Austria and Switzerland. The average length of stay of visitors extended from 1.5 days to 1.6 days and the number of companies sending representatives to the fair again rose sharply.

Almost all visitors (98%) were trade visitors and 92% described themselves as 'decision makers'. 90% of them rated the breadth and depth of the range of products and services on exhibits as 'excellent to good'.

There was a more positive mood in the sector: 71% of visitors (1997 = 57%) and 72% of exhibitors (1997 = 47%) said they regarded the current situation as 'excellent to good'. Furthermore, over 80% of both groups thought the situation would at least remain the same in the future, or would improve still further.
