It's Better for Better

Better Minerals & Aggregates Co (Berkeley Springs, WV, USA) saw sales for Q3 2001 go up 9% to US$91 million. For the first nine months of 2001, sales were up 4% to stand at US$234.7 million.

A portfolio company of D George Harris & Associates and J P Morgan Partners, BMAC is a leading supplier of high quality silica sand and aplite for the glass, foundry, chemical, recreational and construction industries; fine ground silica and kaolin clay products for the ceramic, paint and plastic industries; and crushed stone and bituminous paving materials to contractors, road builders and ready-mix concrete and bituminous asphalt plants. The company has approximately 1,050 employees at its 26 facilities in the USA.

Earnings for Q3 were a record US$20.6 million - an increase of 13% from Q3 2000.

The Industrial Minerals sales were around the same as last time. Average selling prices increased approximately 2%.
