Almatis Adjusts Prices

Effective 15 November 2006, Almatis (Frankfurt, Germany) raised prices on its entire specialty alumina product range for refractory, ceramics and polishing applications. Price increases range between 8% and 15% on a global basis and are effective for all new contracts placed after 15 November.

"Increases in logistics, energy and material costs continue to be a critical price determinant. However, these price adjustments will allow Almatis to remain the largest investor in the industry. As with our $18 million investment in our new fully integrated tabular alumina facility in Qingdao, China, we aim to continuously upgrade and expand our production capacities to ensure the supply of our premium aluminas to customers worldwide," stated Heide Evans, Global Vice President Commercial for Refractory, Ceramics & Polishing.

Almatis is a global leader in the development, manufacture and supply of high quality speciality alumina products. With nearly 900 employees world-wide, the company’s products are used in a wide variety of industries, including steel production, cement production, non-ferrous metal production, plastics, paper, ceramics, carpet manufacturing and electronic industries.
