New Product for Manufacture of Special Porcelain

Valentine Clays (Hanley, Stoke-on-Trent, England) has added to its extensive range of prepared clay bodies and casting slips products for the manufacture of Parian ware. The fired ware is self glazing, very white and highly translucent. The new Valentine product is said to be ideal for producing figurines and has a firing range of 1240°C to 1280°C.

The name Parian is derived from Paros, the Aegean island famous for its beautiful white marble used for sculpture by the classical Greeks. Parian ware became very popular in the mid-19th century and was manufactured by many notable Stoke-on-Trent potteries. Parian is a soft porcelain usually used for making figurines and statuettes.
