More Materials Now Soldered with New Ultrasonic Irons from Solbraze

The SOLSONIC range of ultrasonic soldering irons being launched by Solbraze has been engineered to allow fluxless soldering, creating a more environmentally friendly working atmosphere whilst still enabling companies to comply with forthcoming 'lead-free' solder legislation.

The new irons allow materials previously deemed unsolderable, such as aluminium, ceramics and glass, to be soldered, opening new areas of applications and giving more companies the opportunity to benefit by eliminating the use of highly corrosive and inflexible fluxes in their manufacturing processes and tool-rooms.

Solbraze, a pioneer in the development of ultrasonics for soldering, is launching the new SOLSONIC brand in single frequency, dual frequency and triple frequency variants. The high frequencies allow SOLSONIC irons to be used in a diverse range of applications including delicate materials, such as fine wires, whilst the lower frequencies give a more thorough cleaning to larger items. This technological advance also enables the soldering irons to be used on more materials, bringing fluxless soldering of previously unsolderable materials to more people.

A key benefit of the new ultrasonic soldering irons is that they achieve deep cleaning to a material surface prior to tinning, removing oxides and allowing a normal solder to be applied without a flux.

The standard irons come complete with 80W heating elements, which is sufficient for most applications without the need for additional heating. However, for more demanding, larger applications Solbraze is also launching the high wattage Solsonic. This is a 500W iron and comes complete with an integral ultrasonic generator. It will allow the ultrasonics to be used on large items, such as aluminium sheeting and for large aluminium transformers.

With each model Solbraze is able to supply a choice of solder-bits, which are easily interchangeable allowing the equipment to be used for more than one application.

The SOLSONIC soldering equipment is spearheading the development of more environmentally friendly soldering as well as eliminating the need to install extractors, so often required in conventional soldering processes.

The new models are just part of a comprehensive range of automated and standard handheld soldering equipment designed and manufactured in the UK by Solbraze. They are an exciting development and once again show that Solbraze is leading the world in design of soldering and bonding technology, added the company.
