TRI - Lead Reporting Protocol for Ceramic and Glass Decorators

The Society of Glass and Ceramic Decorators (Bethesda, MD, USA) reports that the White House and EPA have endorsed changes to the Toxic Release Inventory (TRI) reporting requirements for lead. The changes will require all companies that use more than 100 pounds of lead in a year to trace and report that usage to EPA, including any emissions.

SGCD says that this will cover almost every ceramic/glass decorating company, except those with 10 or fewer employees who are exempt from the rule. SGCD says that the reporting requirements are not simple.

Annual TRI reports for 2001 will be due on 30 June 2002 and all lead usage must be reported retroactively to 1 January 2001. US companies in the field are advised to immediately start to trace lead usage and record this information for 2001 filing.

There will be an SGCD EPA Lead Rule Compliance Workshop on 22 June 2001 at the BWI Embassy Suites in Baltimore, MD, USA. Fees are US$100 for SGCD Corporate Members, US$140 for SGCD Individual Members and US$210 for non-members.
