TOR Announces Large Order for Transitional Aluminas

TOR Minerals International (Corpus Christi, TX, USA) has announced that it
has received an order, to be fulfilled in 2003, for approximately 4 million
pounds (1.8157 million kilos) of a transitional alumina called Boehmite
which the company currently manufactures in its plant in Holland.

Richard Bowers, TOR's President and CEO, said that the buyer was a
manufacturer of petroleum and environmental catalysts and that TOR was in
the process of negotiating a multi-year contract for the sale of Boehmite to
that company with a minimum annual requirement in excess of 6 million pounds
(2.72 million kilos) and a potential of over 10 million pounds (4.535
million kilos).

Mr Bowers said that upon the conclusion of a long-term purchase contract,
TOR would build a facility to produce Boehmite at its Corpus Christi complex
in Texas.
