Ingredient Handling Test Facility Opened

Spiroflow Ltd (Clitheroe, Lancs, England) has opened a fully equipped test
facility for research into different methods of ingredients handling in
order to help companies choose suitable powder handling equipment. This
choice, says the company, has been made increasingly problematic by
technological advances, new legal regulations and an ever-expanding range of
ingredients and materials presenting their own unique processing
difficulties.

Companies wanting to develop new ingredients or processes can experiment on
the Clitheroe pre-production materials testing line prior to finalising
their requirements. The concept is that a thorough study of the test
results would allow for a better prediction of material characteristics.

Spiroflow , one of the largest British manufacturers of flexible screw
conveyors with 25 years of expertise and thousands of installations
world-wide, believes that a programme of extensive testing can help provide
valuable information to assist companies in selecting the correct machinery
for a particular operation.

Recent additions to the facility include a new vacuum conveyor and
loss-in-weight bulk bag discharger. The extensive range of available
resources includes bulk bag and sack filling and discharging equipment,
along with aeromechanical, vacuum and flexible screw conveyors.
