Siam Cement Group Reports Outstanding Operating Performance
Chumpol NaLamlieng, President of The Siam Cement Public Company Limited (SCC) - the Thai group whose building products include ceramics - just disclosed the unreviewed consolidated financial statements for SCC and subsidiaries for the first quarter of 2005. This showed total sales of 57.165 billion baht, representing a 31% increase over the same period last year.
The net profit registered 9.997 billion baht, an increase of 36% for Q1 2005 over Q1 2004.
The Building Products Business - the smallest business manufacturing sector in SCG which is a major in petrochemicals, paper and packaging, and cement - recorded total sales of 6.013 billion baht. This represented an increase of 12% over Q1 2004 as a result of strong sales volume of roofing products and ceramic tiles nationwide.
Petrochemicals sales were 22.6 billion baht, Paper & Packaging 9.839 billion baht, Cement 10.539 billion baht, and the Distribution Business had sales of 19.665 billion baht. This last figure was 19% above last year, on rising demand for building materials for the residential house building sector.
