Second Call for Research Proposals in Particulate Engineering

PowdermatriX Faraday Partnership has launched its second call for Research Proposals in Particulate Engineering, with a budget of £400,000. Proposals are invited under the EPSRC funding programme for collaborative postgraduate and/or postdoctoral research in the field of particulate engineering, involving advanced ceramics, powder metallurgy, hardmetals, magnetic materials or other powders.

The call has two priorities. The first, ‘Making Better Products’, addresses the manufacture of higher value products; achieving greater product consistency; and the development of alternative materials. The second, ‘Making Products Better’ includes synthesis, handling and forming with submicron particle sizes and nanopowders; faster/agile/flexible net shape manufacturing; reduction in lead times; increased manufacturing sustainability; and designing equipment to handle extended use.

Successful proposals must achieve a step change in technology, be applicable to a range of industry sectors, be multi disciplinary and have a high level of industry support.

The deadline for proposals is 5pm on Thursday 19th June 2003.

Full details of the call are available here (Word Document, 83Kb).
