Murata's SMD Ceramic Filter Production to Treble

Murata Manufacturing Co Ltd has commercialised SMD type ceramic filters for high frequency and wide frequency range as SFSCE/SFSCD series filters. These are optimal band pass filters for the recent high speed and high capacity data transmittance.

The filters not only cover the centre frequency from 10.7MHz to 22MHz, and 3dB bandwidth from 600kHz to 2MHz - which are twice or more of those of existing filters - but also realise sharp attenuation characteristics. The filters measure just 4.5mm x 3.8mm x 1mm.

Murata describes the filter range as optimal for GPS, wireless audio equipment and Radio Frequency Identification of RFID (non-contact IC card readers/writers) and telecommunications including cordless handsets and Advanced Personal Handy-phone System . These small and thin filters are also used in mobile equipment.

Murata has just launched mass production with a monthly production plan of one million units in place since April 2004. The company says it plans to boost monthly production to three million units from March 2005.
