Multi-Million Dollar Business Secured by Ceradyne

Ceradyne Inc (Costa Mesa, CA, USA) has announced two orders for ceramic armour totalling US$9.6 million.

The first was the receipt of an order worth approximately US$1.1 million for its lightweight ceramic body armour component scheduled to be delivered in the second and third quarters of 2005. CEO Joel Moskowitz commented: "These components are generally smaller shapes than full chest and back body armor and are used to protect other body areas of our soldiers. Ceradyne continues to develop improved compositions of lightweight ceramics and is also working with our customers to develop next generation shapes and uses".

The second order was valued at US$8.5 million and is for the company's ceramic body armour system used to protect certain elite US military personnel. This order is scheduled to be shipped starting in June 2006 with completion by March 2007.

Joel Moskowitz said: "We are pleased to continue supplying ceramic body armor systems to protect these elite U.S. forces in the war on terror. This order represents Ceradyne's state-of-the-art ballistically enhanced systems and are different and separate from the large orders for Small Arms Protective Inserts (SAPI) and the enhanced Small Arms Protective Inserts (ESAPI) the company previously announced".
