Minotaur to Market “World’s Brightest” Kaolin from South Australia Project

The development of South Australia’s world-leading kaolin project near Streaky Bay will now take a further step forward with the processing of the first bulk sample from the project at a new pilot plant in Queensland. Addressing the Paydirt 2009 South Australian Resources & Energy Investment Conference, Adelaide-based Minotaur’s Exploration Director, Dr Tony Belperio, said the company was making final preparations to send the first high-grade kaolinised granite samples for processing from the Carey’s Well deposit at the Poochera project.

The announcement follows the recent doubling of the estimated Inferred Resource of “bright white” kaolinised granite at Carey’s Well, a wholly-owned Minotaur project on the far west coast of South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula.

“We know that Carey’s Well has properties that make it as bright and white as the best kaolin currently commercially available in the world, but to successfully develop this kind of project you need first to find a market and adapt the product to that market,” Dr Belperio said. “In order to upgrade the resource at Carey’s Well, we have completed a pilot plant in Queensland and are preparing to send the first bulk samples over there to test the product and determine the most appropriate technology for maximising its quality.

“This will enable us to stockpile some market-ready product to test the market and then market the project with.”
