Minelco and Capital Refractories Enter Technology Licence Agreement in China

Minelco is to manufacture and sell a range of high-tech refractory products to the foundry industry in China following the signing of a technology licencing agreement between Minelco Tianjin Minerals Limited and Capital Refractories Ltd, an innovative UK based manufacturer of advanced refractory products.

The products are manufactured by Minelco Tianjin Minerals (MTM) from a range of domestic and imported materials and additives using new, dedicated equipment. All materials and production methods were endorsed by Capital and manufacturing is controlled by MTM’s ISO 9000 approval.

The product range offered to Chinese foundries includes Coral spinel forming dry-vibratable electric induction furnace linings, Capram plastic refractory toppings and repair materials, Capscreed coil cements and Caprax refractory castables. The products are primarily used for the lining of coilless electric induction furnaces and for the lining and repair of ladles. The Coral furnace linings are installed using a metal former and a vibratory tamper to form a highly durable sintered lining with operating temperatures in excess of 1700°C.

Mr. Dong Junkai, 'JK', was recruited specifically to manage the sales of these products. JK has worked enthusiastically since he joined Minelco last year in a sales development role. All furnace installations have proceeded to plan and technical feed-back so far is highly encouraging, said Minelco.

China’s foundry industry is booming and Minelco said that its experience with refractory raw materials, mineral processing and manufacturing - coupled with a strong practical sales capability and the technical resource of Capital - enable it to offer first class refractory solutions to foundries in China.
