Ceramica Mediterranea to Double Output

Italian tile manufacturer Ceramica Mediterranea Srl (Guspini, CA, Italy) has once again decided to choose Sacmi (Imola, BO, Italy) as its supplier. The aim of the current investment is to double the company's output to 12,000 sq.m. per day via a continuous 24-7 production process that employs a single kiln.

The expansion of the plant includes two PH 3020 presses with a clearance of 2250mm together with the relevant Sacmi-designed wide dies and a 16.9-metre horizontal ECP 285 dryer which leads into the kiln.

The kiln itself is a 115 metre-long FMS built to cope with very high output rates even with a 50mm diameter roller combination.

Sacmi has also supplied Ceramica Mediterranea - a specialist in ceramic floor and wall tiles based in the province of Cagliari - with storage machines (specially designed for direct production plants), the sorting system and the palletising unit. This last section of the production line - an innovative system developed by Sacmi Automation - is the very latest addition to the already comprehensive automatic pallet control vehicle range.
