MAC's Metal Injection Moulding Reveals Cost Savings in Laparoscopy

Morgan Advanced Ceramics has introduced metal injection moulded laparoscopic instruments in a variety of surgical metals including 17-4PH, 304L and 216L stainless steels. These dense and highly durable components require virtually no machining, says the company.

The process allows for several parts to be moulded as one unit and multiple cavity moulds can be applied, reducing tooling costs and production throughput times.

Mouldings are produced under ISO 9002 certified conditions and are 100% traceable. Laparoscopic instruments complement Morgan's portfolio of products for medical applications as wide ranging as cardiac pacemakers, hip joints, cannula coatings for blood and DNA analysis, surgical lasers, X-ray systems and MRI scanners.
