Machinery Protection and Increased Product Quality from Eriez

Eriez Magnetics Europe Ltd (Bedwas, Caerphilly, Wales) will exhibit key products from its range of magnetic separators, metal detectors and automatic sampling equipment at the Hillhead 2001 Quarrying and Recycling Show, to be held from 26-28 June.

Eriez is the world's largest manufacturer of magnetic separators and one of the most extensively used products in quarrying and recycling is its Permanent Overband Magnet. These are used for the removal of unwanted tramp metal and for the protection of machinery such as mobile crushers. The overband magnet incorporates an improved magnetic circuitry design using finite element analysis, enabling improved separation of tramp metal contamination. The company will display its CP 20/80 Manual Clean model.

Also on display will be two new products from its metal detector range. The first is the TR-10 Underbelt Search Coil - said to be the only one of its kind on the market, insofar as it can be set to detect only pieces of metal over a specified size. Up until now, explains Eriez, this facility has been achieved solely with aperture type search coils which are not liked by the trade as the top coil is prone to damage when over-burden situations occur. Ignoring small pieces of metal also means that the TR-10 prevents unnecessary stoppage of the feed conveyor and therefore results in increased daily throughput.

The other new model is also from the METALARM range. In this case, the control unit is incorporated on the end of the search head, thus making installation of the metal detector both cheaper and faster. It is faster because there is no need for a special framework to be constructed to mount the control unit and no need for a cable to be run between the control unit and the search coil. Good financial savings are said to be achieved due to a reduction in materials required and in labour hours.
