CERAM Sets the Style for Colour Standards

As consumers become increasingly discerning, colour and its control has become an important part of product development and production across most industries. Its accurate measurement is vital for consistency of product and CERAM Colour Standards provide a reliable and stable reference in the unstable world of colour.

CERAM provides Colour Standards for a huge number of industries from paint and production to the food industry and from the car and aerospace industries to the medical and pharmaceutical industries. Colour Standards are used by both the instrumentation manufacturers, and also their clients.

CERAM Colour standards are the result of over 35 years experience in industrial colour measurement. Real benefits enjoyed by users include; increased confidence in instrumental colour control systems, reduced costly production of off-shade items by giving early warning of instrument faults, and improved co-ordination of measurements between separate factories and between different manufacturers of assembled components, which is often critical to the consistency of products manufactured and sold world-wide.

A calibration service for CERAM standards under UKAS Accreditation is provided which means that these standards are ideal for use in Quality Control Procedures to BS EN ISO 9000.

CERAM’s Chris Williamson explained; “All CERAM Colour Standards are based on a specially designed low expansion ceramic plate, which helps maintain the stability of the finished standards. The glazes are selected to keep surface defects to a minimum while fully developing the colours needed. The finished standards are highly opaque, unlike some of the other standards available, virtually eliminating measurement changes caused by edge light loss due to aperture size.”

One of the unique benefits of using CERAM Colour Standards is the access clients have to a support infrastructure which includes an on-site laboratory and experienced staff, offering consultancy, calibration and testing services for both colour standards, and for clients’ own coloured product samples. The tests are carried out according to UKAS Accredited procedures and calibration certificates are suitable for use in ISO 9000 quality control measures.
