New Industrial Centre of Barbieri & Tarozzi Group

An investment of over €3 million plus nine months of strenuous work have given life to the new 'Industrial Centre' in Formigine, Modena, Italy. This project of Barbieri & Tarozzi Group, rated second in the world in its field of supply to the ceramic industry, is aimed at strategically optimising the production and logistics organisation.

The Industrial Centre rises over an area of 15,000 square metres just down the road from the group's historical head office. It consist of three imposing structures, one of which has been designated for the production of sorting lines and material handling plants, which up until now has been carried out in the factory in Fiorano. The group started to transfer personnel and equipment from Fiorano to Formigine back in January and the move was finally completed at the end of March.

The second large building is where the storage machines will be produced, with shipping department alongside. It has 10 automatic upright stocking areas and a large shelving department for pallets. The third building is the logistics centre that deals with spare parts and production.

All this is complemented by the Technological Centre which was inaugurated back in October 2001. This centre is dedicated 100% to the research and development of new ceramic products.

The production of presses for ceramic manufacturing remains at the B&T factory in Gaggiano, Milan. The group's presses range from 1,000 to 5,000 ton capacity models.

B&T employs around 400 staff and in 2003 it reached a consolidated turnover of €110 million, with a growth of 10% compared to 2002. Over 80% of the turnover is generated from exports.
