Second Edition of Ash Glazes Volume

A&C Black Publishers Ltd (London, England) has announced the publication of 'Ash Glazes - 2nd Edition' by Phil Rogers.

In this updated and expanded second edition, Phil Rogers sketches the history of ash glazes, from the first accidental discovery of their properties, followed by a discussion on the practicalities of collecting and testing wood ashes and how to make them into glazes.

In the final part of the book, the focus is on a greatly expanded group of international ceramic artists who use ash glazes in their work. Over 160 full colour images throughout the book, accompanied by detailed descriptions, provide a comprehensive and practical guide to the endless possibilities of ash glazing.

'Ash Glazes' has been designed as a practical handbook as well as a source of delight for serious potters and aficionados of contemporary ceramics alike.

Phil Rogers is a well known British potter, renowned for his ash-glazed and salt-glazed pots. He is a Fellow of the Craft Potters Association and a member of the International Academy of Ceramics, as well as a frequent contributor to various ceramic and craft magazines.

The book (ISBN 0-7136-5782-0) is available priced £28.
