Yageo Releases Ceramic and Metallic GPS HF Antenna Product Lines

Yageo Corporation has announced that it has extended the global positioning satellite system high frequency (GPS HF) antenna family to cover comprehensive and industry leading specifications intended to meet the
requirements of the rapidly growing market for handheld and portable consumer electronic devices with built-in GPS functions.

Yageo said its wide ranging GPS HF product series featured standard ceramic antennas and customised metallic antennas and industry’s smallest sizes making the company a leader in the field and the only company in the world that offers both ceramic and metallic GPS antenna types.

The multi-layer ceramic antenna and bulk ceramic antenna products offered by Yageo are all chip-based and are designed to support the expansive applications of handheld mobile communication devices, such as smartphones and 3G mobile phones, Personal Digital Assistants (PDA) and on-board navigation systems for cars. The industry’s smallest chip-based multi-layer ceramic antenna now available at Yageo measures only 6.3mm × 2.0mm × 1.15mm, which is in compliance with the rules of the Wireless Enhanced 911 Emergency
Services of the USA.

Catering to the growing needs of notebook computers, handheld PDA and smartphone makers in continual search for superior construction integration solutions, Yageo frequently works with customers through their product development cycle, not only to ensure maximising the potential of its GPS HF antenna technology, but also to help speed up new product launch for customers.

Roger Lu, General Manager of Yageo’s Special Product Business Unit said: "Yageo’s GPS HF antenna products come in the most complete specifications and smallest dimensions in the industry. Furthermore, our products are also tailor made from either ceramics or metal to our customers’ needs for built-in GPS functions on a variety of consumer products, such as handheld mobile devices and navigation systems. Yageo’s GPS HF antenna has been certified by major ODMs as well as European and US customers. We anticipate
the market demand to more than double this year."
