World Academy of Ceramics Appoints New Members


Ten new Professional Members (Academicians) have been appointed during the 9th Election to the World Academy of Ceramics (2002-2003 run), as follows:

Professor Sang-Hee Cho, Kyungpook National University, Daegu, South Korea

Professor Agustin Escardino, Jaume I University, Castellón, Spain

Professor Jerzy Lis, University of Mining & Metallurgy, Kraków, Poland

Professor Elson Longo, University of Sao Carlos, Sao Paulo, Brazil

Dr Bin Nagai, The Technical Association of Refractories, Tokyo, Japan

Dr Mrityunjay Singh, NASA Glenn Research Center, Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Professor Eiichi Yasuda, Tokyo Institute of Technology, Saitama, Japan


With the new entrants, the Academy totals 193 Professional Members belonging to 23 countries. The next election is planned for 2004. Election is restricted to 10 new appointees for each run.

The Academy of Ceramics is a non-profit organisation whose general objectives are promoting progress in the field of ceramics and fostering a better understanding of the social impact and cultural interactions of ceramic science, technology, history and art. It is headquartered in Faenza in Italy.
