Ceramic Expert Joins Tutogen Medical

Tutogen Medical Inc (Alachua, FL, USA), a leading manufacturer of sterile biological implant products made from human (allograft) and animal
(xenograft) tissue, has announced that Dr David Greenspan has joined the company as Vice President -- Global Research and Development.

Dr Greenspan has more than 26 years of experience in the discovery, development and commercialisation of innovative technologies in the fields of medical devices and high temperature ceramic coatings for severe environments. He has created intellectual property (inventor/co-inventor) in three separate technologies that have gained commercial success.

Most recently, from 2003 to the present, Dr Greenspan has served as Vice President, Chief Technology Officer and Corporate Officer at NovaMin Technology Inc, a development stage company in medical devices and consumer products for oral health care. He was responsible for the creation of research and development programmes for the company's oral care technology.

From 1992 to 2003 Dr Greenspan was Vice President, Chief Technology Officer and Corporate Officer at US Biomaterials Corporation, a start-up company in the field of bone regeneration products and was responsible for creation and implementation of internal and contract research programmes to commercialise medical devices based on Bioglass(R) technology licensed from Geltech Inc and the University of Florida.

Prior to that Dr Greenspan was Vice President, Biomedical Products at Geltech Inc, of Alachua, Florida, a start-up, advanced materials development company. He was responsible for organising, staffing and implementing the newly created biomedical business unit based on Bioglass(R) technology licensed from the University of Florida. Additional responsibilities included management of production of the non-medical product line of silica based optical components.

Dr Greenspan holds a BSc degree in Glass Science from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University and a PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Florida.
