Ceramic Frit Production for Turkey

Hurriyet reports that the major Turkish gloss frit producer Gizem Seramik Frit & Glazur is to begin producing significant volumes of frit required by the domestic ceramic manufacturers.

It is thought that the annual requirement in this area is some 200,000 tons, much of it currently imported and the rest supplied within the country by foreign owned subsidiaries.

This move by Gizem will be a first as apparently there is no other independent, Turkish owned concern producing volume ceramic frit, in spite of the fact that in whitewares, Turkey is the third largest producer in Europe and the fifth largest in the world.

Gizem’s initial aim is to meet 15% of Turkish demand for ceramic frit and to build on that base thereafter.  The company has already reportedly been growing at about 30% per annum in recent times.
